Building more than projects

At Stella Group, the impact of our work should extend beyond the projects we deliver.

We’re committed to investing in people, creating opportunities and supporting the communities around us. From developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople to backing grassroots sport and building progression routes within our own team, we want our growth to have a positive impact on the people and places around us.

Investing in the next generation

Developing skilled people is fundamental to the future of Stella Group and the industries we work within.

We currently employ nine apprentices, including four in their third year, one in their second year and four just starting out. Five are completing Level 3 Electrical Apprenticeships, while our four newest apprentices are undertaking general building multi-skilled apprenticeships.

For us, this is about much more than gaining a qualification. It’s about giving people a chance to build a career, develop real skills and become confident, capable professionals.

Across our leadership team’s wider industry experience, 12 apprentices have previously been supported through their training to become qualified electricians, with several progressing into management.

Creating routes into industry

Businesses have an important role to play in giving young people their first break.

Our relationship with Spen Valley High School is one example. Following a project delivered at the school, we built a relationship with its leadership team. Through that connection, a young person who’d shown real potential was given a start with Stella Group and is now one of our apprentices.

It’s the kind of route we want to create more of as we grow, connecting education and industry to give talented young people a path into skilled, long-term careers.

Developing our people

Our investment doesn’t stop with apprenticeships.

We continually look for ways to help our team develop their skills, gain qualifications and progress within Stella Group. One current employee joined us as a labourer three years ago. Having shown real ability and commitment, we’re now exploring a pathway to support him in becoming a qualified electrician.

We think potential should be recognised and backed. By investing in training and progression, we build rewarding careers for our people while strengthening the skills and expertise within our business.

More than sponsorship

Our relationship with Dewsbury Moor ARLFC is particularly important to us.

As a not-for-profit organisation, the club gives children and young people the chance to play sport while building teamwork, confidence and a sense of community. We’ve supported the club over a number of years and have seen first-hand the difference it makes to young people and their families.

For us, backing grassroots organisations isn’t about putting the Stella name on a shirt. It’s about helping the people doing genuine good keep doing it.

Operating responsibly

Responsible business also means thinking carefully about how we operate.

We work across renewable energy, electrical infrastructure, solar PV, battery storage and EV charging, so environmental performance isn’t a side note for us, it’s close to the core of what we do. Our environmental policies and procedures form part of our Quality Management System and wider accreditation requirements, covering responsible working practices, waste reduction and recycling.

As we grow, we’ll keep looking for practical ways to cut waste, improve efficiency and strengthen our environmental performance, on our projects and in how we run the business.

Building for the future

We’re proud of the projects we deliver, but our long-term impact should be measured by more than the buildings, systems and infrastructure we leave behind.

It’s also about the careers we help create, the people we develop and the communities we support. That’s the measure we’re holding ourselves to as Stella Group grows.
